The Horton Plant became part of the cooperative system in 1940. Logan County Farm Bureau operated the facility into the late 1970s and Landmark managed the retail until the purchase in 1985 by the Champaign Landmark Inc.
Located in northeastern Logan County, the cooperative provided much needed services to farmers in Logan, Union and Hardin Counties. The 1960s brought the addition of much needed concrete grain storage to handle the increasing harvest bushels. Major renovations were again added in 1994 after a 17 car track derailment leveled the original wood elevator.
Horton operates with four full time employees offering full services in agronomy. A good fall harvest brings in excess of 1 million bushels to the elevator and our patrons are provided quality livestock feeds in bags.
Horton’s agronomy department includes seed, chemicals, fertilizer, farmer rental application equipment and our Crop Advantage Program. The grain department offers full grain merchandising services. Bagged feed is also available or can be ordered for pickup.
